Born in North Yorkshire, England, Justin gained a scholarship to Ashville College, Harrogate prior to signing for Leeds United at 17 years of age. He made his Football League first team debut for Doncaster Rovers at 18 years in a brief 3-year career in professional sport. He joined Aviva Insurance for a year, then the Willis Group for two years, joining Willis' risk management division and gaining Chartered Insurance Institute qualifications which allowed him the opportunity to move to London to read Business Law at City, University of London.
Graduating from City with a comprehensive third year thesis on FIFA football player transfer rules and their reconciliation with European employment law following the European Court's "Bosman Ruling" case, he joined Fraser McGowan trading group, learning to trade derivative futures and options on the London International Financial Futures and Options Exchange (LIFFE). At this time, he also became the youngest FIFA approved players agent in the UK, notably identified a loophole between FIFA, UEFA, Premier League and Football Association rules as they applied to English Premier League player transfers.
Based in the City of London, he became a founding partner in a regulated inter-dealer broker firm. He helped build and manage desks in European spot and derivative futures & options products; matching, transacting and settling large financial trades between the banks, hedge funds and trading groups. The firm became a leading dealer in Equity Single Stocks & Indices, Short Term Interest Rates, Cash, Dividends and Commodity products. The firm was the number 1 broker in DAX Index Options and a top 5 firm in Dividend Swaps, Delta One Strategies, FTSE 100 Index and Eurostoxx 50 Index Options markets, the latter being the largest equity options market in Europe.
Successfully navigating the great financial crisis, from 2012 he spent a decade working in private equity initiatives and early stage venture building. A five-year executive role as acting Chief Operating Officer with electricity power generation firm MicroPower Global saw numerous initiatives towards bringing electricity to rural communities in order to advance socio-economic well-being. A further five years as a founding partner and Chief Commercial Officer with currency exchange trading technology specialists Aquarius Group AG saw continued education of developing nation challenges from a monetary perspective.
Today, business interests relate to three core themes:
